  2. 2013 – 2014 Florida Governor Matthew Cantrell’s “STEPS TO EXCELLENCE” ACTIVITIES INVOCATION JANUARY 23RD SPEAKER Heavenly Father, Help us to be humble in our daily lives, putting others before us. Remind us that without goals we can accomplish nothing, especially in our desire to help the needy. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen Richard Bowers, along with Dick Brown, bring to the Beaches the weekly radio talk and call-in show, "Salt Air", which can be heard at 1600 AM, WZNZ, 12-1 p.m. Thursdays. Richard talked about the impact of "Salt Air" on the community, along with some of the contemporary issues in our community discussed on the show. Thank you Richard for a very interesting and informative presentation. From: “Invocations for Kiwanis Occasions” by James J. Muench PRESIDENT’S VIEW BOARD MEETINGS Every 2nd Monday Richard Bowers(left), Dick Brown(right) What a Golden month for the Beaches Kiwanis Club! First we clear over $1.000.00 at our Charity Concert and have a wonderful evening of music and a good crowd in spite of a really cold night. And then there is our Paula Powell earning the Golden Pinnacle Award from Watson Realty for being the top sales person for their Intracoastal Office. The concert will now be an annual event and the musicians are really happy to be partnered with us in our efforts for the children of the Beaches. CHARITY CONCERT EVENT 13001 Atlantic Blvd, Paula Powell’s Office 12 noon, BYOL March 10 April 14 May 12 June 9 Paula's award made me stop and consider how amazing our members are, and even more amazing are the members that are holding down a professional position and still having the energy and time to work for Kiwanis. I stand in awe each time they appear at one of our meetings or functions, and want them to know that their efforts are truly appreciated. We have a strong group of volunteers. Now we have a new effort led by Alison Cacella to start a morning group to reach out to younger members of our community. Here is another business person devoting her "spare" time to our club. February 20, 7:30 AM at Lillie’s Coffee Bar. Wish her luck, and support her any way you can. And- if you haven't been reading the newspapers, James Lee is getting a lot of ink about our activities! Thanks! Karl ANNOUNCEMENTS February 14th - HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! February 25th- Tuesday, 7:30am – First breakfast meeting at Lillie's Coffee Bar (Beaches Town Center, 200 First Street, Neptune Beach) No Birthdays or Anniversaries DIVISION 5 COUNCIL MEETING The DCM was held on February 6 hosted by the Deerwood Club.
