  1. Diving in the Maltese Islands By Raphael Farrugia Prep 5 Stella Maris School - Balzan

  2. Diving in Malta There are many dive sites in Malta, but the best dive sites are the Rozi wreck dive and the Marfa Reef dive.

  3. Ghar Lapsi Black John An easy dive. Entrance is in a small enclosure in 3m. Excellent visibility & marine life. Depth – 15 metres

  4. Wreck UM-El-Faroud (Zurrieq) This 110m tanker was scuttled & sunk in 1998.  She has attracted many different forms of marine life from Barracudas to sun fish & trigger fish. Depth – 34 metres

  5. St. Paul’s Islands This is reputed to be the location where St. Paul was wrecked. there are other remains such as some plates and ribs form an old destroyer and a small ferry sunk purposely in 1984.  There is also an algae-covered statue of Christ.  Depth – 34 meters

  6. HMS St. Angelo Diving on this wreck is considered hazardous due to its close proximity of Grand Harbour entrance & ship traffic in and out of Valletta harbour. Depth – 54 metres

  7. Cirkewwa – Marfa Point ( MADONNA STATUE) This dive is a shore dive, and starts off from a shallow lagoon. There is a reef which drops down to about 18 metres. Close to this is a small cavern with a statue of the Madonna. Depth – 25 metres

  8. Paradise Bay Paradise Bay consists out of a lime stone reef with many rocks. You’ll need to take a hike over very sharp fossilised rock south of the car-park before you can start this dive. Entering across the rocks is tricky. Depth- 30 metres

  9. Qammieh Point This site drops near vertically to the seabed 50m below and then slopes off to very deep water.  There is a very old cave on the southern side of the slope too. Depth – 70 metres

  10. Dwejra – The Blue Hole This site is located in front of the Azure Window at the bottom of Dwejra Point. It is a shore dive, which is reached via a fairly difficult walk over rough coralline limestone. Depth – 26 metres

  11. Carolita Wreck Probably mistaken for a submarine, the Carolita barge was struck in her stern by a torpedo on the night of April 21, 1942. Depth – 22 meters

  12. Munxar Reef This reef starts at 15m and drops off to 45m. This reef is very rich in marine growth. There is also a crack on the top of the reef that leads down to a cave. Depth - 45 metres

  13. Wiediz- Zurrieq From the left of Zurrieq you follow the reef all the way to the blue grotto. There are actually many caves and holes in the reef in this area, all to be found just outside the bay at the western side along the cliff wall. Depth – 32 meters
