Career Cruising Complete “Career Cruising” portion of handout. • From the HS website, click on Career Cruising on the right of the screen or www.careercruising.com/login/LKT • Username: LKT-123456 (student ID#) • Password: MMDDYYYY (Student DOB) • Create a Portfolio – please include your email address (you will not be spammed!) • Explore Assessments • Learning Styles Inventory – 20 Qs • Career Matchmaker – 39 Qs • Complete – My Skills – 45 Qs • Click three of the careers that interest you • List the name, education needed, salary, skills

  4. Reality Check Complete “Reality Check” portion of handout. • Go to www.texasrealitycheck.com/ • Click on option 1: Reality Check • Where do you want to live? Select a city • Identify average costs for different services in that area, including: • Housing, utilities, food, transportation, clothes, health care, entertainment, personal upkeep, miscellaneous, and savings • Then select “Find Careers that match the salary” • Write down 2 or 3 careers that match the salary you want and add to handout

  5. Career Path Complete “Career Path” portion of handout. • Go to http://www.yourfreecareertest.com • Complete the “Your Free Career” test • 52 questions • Record the top 2 best occupational careers on your handout

  6. Own It! Complete “Own It” portion of handout. • Go to https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/find-colleges/how-to-find-your-college-fit/college-search-step-by-step • Click “Begin Exploring” • Identify what kind of college, location, campus setting, cost, majors and learning environment are important to you • When you get to “My College Snapshot” page, click on “Find Colleges” • Based on results, what are your top 2 school choices? What is a “safety” school you can identify?

Lame Excuses Complete “Lame Excuses for Not Attending College” portion of handout. • Go to http://www.collegeatlas.org/why-not-college.html • What excuses have you heard? • Have you said any of them yourself? • See how these students overcame their stories at http://youcango.collegeboard.org/stories

  8. Clean It Up! Complete “Cleaning Up Your Online Act” portion of handout. • Using headphones, watch the video at http://www.ownyourownfuture.com/12th/prep/video-hub/cleaning-up-your-online-act/ • Please do not visit any personal social media sites today, but think about pages you may need to clean up once you get home! • Create a “professional” email address!
