  1. Advertising Marketing is an important part of almost any business. What are some of your favorite advertisements?

  2. Lesson Objective Calculate the cost of advertising in a newspaper.

  3. Example 1 Northshore Real Estate contracted with the Daily News. Northshore plans to advertise a new subdivision in the daily newspaper. The advertisement is five ½ page daily, one full page Saturday and one full page Sunday. What is the cost of the advertisement?

  4. Example 1 Answer: Step 1 Find the rate per ½ page daily. (See Figure 16.3, The Daily News Advertising Rates table on page 606 of your textbook.) The rate per ½ page daily is $330.

  5. Example 1 Answer: Step 2 Find the advertisement cost. Number of Units × Rate per Unit 330 x 5 = $1650.00

  6. Example 1 Answer: Step 3 Find the total advertisement cost. $3370 = $1650.00 + 760 + 960

  7. Practice 1 The Seashell Grill contracts with the Daily News for advertising space per week. A 1/5 ad is run on Wednesdays. Use Figure 16.3, The Daily News Advertising Rates table, on page 606 of your textbook to find the cost of the advertisement.
