  1. Digital Citizenship & the First Grade!!!

Internet + Etiquette = Netiquette! 4+4=8 • Netiquette is the way you should behave on the internet. • It is how you are expected to interact with other people in cyberspace. • The internet has rules just like our class rules!!! Here are a few! • Treat people the way you would like to be treated! (Just because you’re on a computer doesn’t mean you should be rude.) • No fighting! (It’s alright to disagree, but do it in a way that is respectful.) • Watch where you’re going! (Some sites aren’t appropriate for your age.) 2+2=4

  3. Copyright • When someone creates something, and they don’t want anyone else to use it without their permission, they get a copyright. Copyrights are used for things like drawings, stories, and poems. • But something called “Fair Use” can work around your “Copyright” and give people permission to use your work without your knowing!

  4. Fair UseIn some situations people can use copyrighted works without having to ask for permission or pay the author. News reportersand teachers often use copyrighted worksand do not have to ask permission. This is a part of “Fair Use” Sorry, not that type of fair!

  5. Plagiarism • Plagiarism is when you use someone’s work without giving them any credit. • It’s like cheating! • Whenever you use a piece of anyone else’s writing, art, or even just a quote, you should list them or your source in your work.

  6. Safety on the web!~always check with an adult before putting personal information on a website~be careful not to put things on the internet that may embarrass you or someone else~never agree to meet with someone you met on the internet safety
