  2. This Grant was found on the http://www.ed.gov/programs/lsl/index.html. Local education agencies (elementary, middle schools) that have at least 20% students that come from the families with income below the poverty line can qualify for this grant Save The Children Non Profit organization operates in the areas that are close or below poverty line. School districts and Save The Children Organization could create partnerships with the purpose of achieving the same goals. One of the goals of the Save The Children organization is to increase literacy of children from low income families. This goal can be matched to the goals of School District in the Area. Save the Children Organization could benefit from the funding through this grant received by school districts in the area. Organization could also help children with their created programs such as improving nutrition in schools or after school programs that could help children improve their educational attainment. The purpose of this grant is to “improve the reading achievements of students by providing them with access to up to date books and school library materials; technologically advanced school library media centers and professionally certified school library media specialist.”(p.1).

The Improving Literacy Through School Libraries (LSL) Program promotes comprehensive local programs to improve student reading achievement by improving school library services. School libraries can play a key role in improving literacy when collaboration among instructional and school library media staff is strengthened, instructional materials and resources aligned with the local curriculum are added, and student access to libraries is increased by the extension of school library hours of operation.
