  • Throughout history, singing has been the most widespread and familiar way to make and share music.

  • Ancient Greek drama included a chorus.

  • Singers have always had a magnetic appeal. Today many singers become the most popular people of their respective cultures

  • There is something magical in the connection between singer and audience.

  • The voice is the only instrument that can fuse a word with musical tone. Thus poetry and singing have been forever linked.


How it works

How it works.

  • Air from the lungs passes the vocal cords causing them to vibrate and make sound.

  • The pitch of the sound is determined by the tension of the cords. (Tighter=higher, Looser=lower)

  • The timbre of the sound is determined by several factors including the throat, mouth, tongue, and nasal cavity.

  • A well trained classical singer will command a pitch range that spans a little more than 2 octaves

  • Most amateur or untrained voices command 1.5 or less.
