  6. Deterrent fines needed for compliance 2 • CWG Lanes - Rs. 2,000/- fine • Odd-Even Scheme - Rs. 2,000/- fine

  7. Road Engineering Issues : Decisions are delayed 3 • Empowered body for decisions on long term solutions • Body of road engineering specialists for road maintenances of quick solutions, repair works etc.

  18. Need for study of Intra-City movement of Commuters 13 • This can help in developing effective public transport facility in a city. • Much improvement needed in the existing Public Transport facilities.

  19. Need to shift to Technology 14 • Prosecution should be technology driven • Cities should be flooded with cameras to detect signal jumping / over speeding etc. • Manpower saved to be used for traffic management

  20. Use of Technology 15 • For monitoring traffic flow • Traffic flow counters • Google Map • Adaptive Traffic Singals • Technology driven prosecution • ITMS

  22. Special Provisions needed against obstructing of Roads 16 • Obstruction of footpaths & carriageways very common • Main roads targeted by protests/demonstrations • Stringent penalties needed for willful blockage of road/obstructing traffic

  23. Stringent provisions needed for Stunt Biking 17 • Stunt biking is different from simple over speeding or dangerous driving • Usually done in groups • Causes discomfort and fear in the minds of general public • Very dangerous for safety

  24. Need to define the offence of ‘Jay Walking’ 18 • Provisions of penalty for Jay Walkers/pedestrians • However it needs to be combined with adequate pedestrian infrastructure

Recommendations of Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety (18-08-2015) 19 • Driving license to be suspended for 3 months in the case of :- • Over Speeding • Red Light Jumping • Carrying persons in goods carriage • Drunken Driving • Using Mobile phone while driving These provisions can be incorporated in the new Act Since 15th Dec.,2015 licenses seized by Delhi Traffic Police – 81,356
