  1. RSOC Status - presented at the SWT #10 Detlef Koschny and the Science Operations TeamResearch and Scientific Support DepartmentESA/ESTEC detlef.koschny@rssd.esa.int IntroductionImplementation statusReview action statusFuture work

  2. Implementation status - I • Design • Stable since last presentation at SWT #9 • Update of describing document (RSOC Design Specification) will be done together with update of RSOC to Experimenter ICD • Interfaces • CRID/DDID: Board meeting Jun 10, all changes implemented in Issue B4. Available on Livelink server. • Testing of interfaces Experimenter Teams -> RSOC computer at ESOC -> retrieval by RSOC at ESTEC successfully done (see presentation by A. Hulsbosch) • All signatures on RSOC to Experimenter ICD except US teams • Software • Experiment Planning System (EPS) in Version 1.0. Formal testing against user requirements ongoing, delayed due to limited manpower (MIRO support) • EPS is in use to check inputs for Pointing and Interference Scenarios, conversion of Rosetta System Database to EPS format done. Minor problems found, new release with bug fixes and some additional features expected before summer

  3. Implementation status - II • Software (continued) • Rosetta Project Test Bed (PTB): Used in planning of Pointing Scenario. Formal testing against user requirements is still ongoing • Operational Request File Acknowledger (ORF-A): Formal testing of Release 1.0 done, test report available. Update to adapt to new version of RSOC to Experimenter ICD expected after summer, fine tuning (e.g. take into account update in file naming conventions) • Science Planning • POINTing scenario and INTERFERence scenario discussions in progress, should be finished by mid July. • Overall commissioning phase planning (led by ESOC) supported by Sci Ops Team • Configuration control for planning files and software was set up (using CVS). Experiment Description Files used for science planning in configuration control planned for next week • Data archiving • Support experiment teams to define archive skeleton • Planetary Missions Science Archive (PSA): gives services to science community like ftp-delivery, search, … - User Requirements document issued last week (see Joe’s presentation)

  4. Comments from Design Review (May 2001) • R03-3: Partially closed. Interface to OSIRIS is now finalised (“User Defined Procedures”), to be documented in next update of RSOC to Experimenter ICD • Requests by RSI were defined in ITL syntax, can be used in science planning. Comments from Ground Segment Implementation Review (Nov 2001) • GSIR_0017: handling single or multiple LORs – software patching mechanism is clear, still needs to be tested • GSIR_0021: Signing of ICD requested by Lander team – done except for US teams

  5. Actions resulting from RSOC Implementation Review (Feb 2002) • Short-term schedule was prepared and is tracked in weekly meetings. Long-term schedule in preparation. • Resources: Assessment and ensuring proper resourcing was requested. Support from Project (Mark Nesbit). Joe is supported by José Vasquez for the next 2 years. • Knowledge Management: Joe Zender/Nicolas Biver are working on this, last meeting Tuesday 25 Jun – see dedicated presentation by Joe. • Documentation: ongoing, emphasis on test plans/reports. Update of Design Description and RSOC to Experimenter ICD planned before next review (Sep). • “RSOC Commissioning” will take place in Sep 2003 to verify functioning of the RSOC. • Risk assessment was performed, discussions on follow-up ongoing.

  6. Future work - I • Interfaces • End to end test in summer • Update RSOC to Experimenter ICD and RSOC Design Specification (August) • Next RSOC review in September, coordinated with Ground Segment Readiness Review • “RSOC Commissioning” planned for Sep 2003

  7. Future work - II • Software • Progress in documentation for all software packages, however still some documents outstanding • Science Planning • Finalise planning of POINTing scenario and INTERFERence scenario for commissioning phase, deadline from ESOC mid-July! • Data Archiving • Define and implement Planetary Missions Science Archive • Supplementary Wirtanen archive to be finished by launch • Rosetta Archive Plan Issue 2 scheduled for launch
