  2. Learning Team • You will be assigned to a learning team. • You and your partner will work together to create a power point presentation • You and your partner must equally contribute to the project • You will evaluate your partner at the end of the project, and he or she will evaluate you.

  3. Project • A power point presentation • At least 12 slides • Using the short stories we read in class, you will be giving examples of the following literary terms.

  4. Characterization (4 slides) • Internal conflict (1 slide) • External conflict (1 slide) • Foreshadow (1 slide) • Point of view – 1st person (1 slide) • Point of view – 3rd person (1 slide) • Suspense – (1 slide) • Allusion – (1 slide) • Flashback – (1 slide)

  5. Each slide must: • Define the literary term • Demonstrate how that term is used in one of the short stories • Include both text and images

  6. REMEMBER: Be Creative Use quotation marks when quoting another’s written or spoken word

  7. Irony Irony is a contrast between what is expected and what actually happens. In “The Lie” Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. uses irony when he writes: “It is inconceivable to them that Eli could not go there, so they had no curiosity as to how Eli had done on the examinations, were not puzzled when no report ever came.” It is ironic because Eli’s parents are confident about Eli’s acceptance, when in fact he has already failed the entrance exam.
