  3. Workplan • What's our work plan • Problem statement and driving scenarios • Requirements for SAM Framework • Survey of ALM/OM/Hybrid technologies and performance metrics • Specification of SAM Framework • Specification of deployment scenarios • Meeting schedule • Meeting at Workshop on Peer-to-Peer Multicasting, Jan 2007 • Part of IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference • IETF 68 • One other networking conference in 2007, venue under discussion • Further information • Website: www.samrg.org • Mailing lists: sam@irtf.org

  4. Welcome • Scribe • Jabber room • Meeting materials • www.samrg.org  meetings

  5. What we are doing here • See charter at irtf.org • Briefly • Deployment of IP Multicast is slow • Application layer multicast technicques have been demonstrated, and some have combined ALM with native multicast • Can we specify a hybrid multicast framework that • Leverages IP multicast where it exists • Uses ALM elsewhere • Is adaptive to different network environments, #s of groups, QoS mechanisms etc. • One network environment of interest is the Global Information Grid (GIG)
