Ocean Dumping Ban Act • This act makes it unlawful for any person to dump, or transport, for the purpose of dumping, sewage sludge or industrial waste into ocean waters after December 31, 1991. • Marine waters have been used extensively for an alternative site for disposal of wastes and this has caused marine pollution. This act will help to regulate the problem of dumping waste into marine waters.

  3. Ocean Dumping Ban Act • The agency responsible for regulating and enforcing this act is primarily the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA has the authority to levy penalties against those who are in violation of this act and are able to issue permits that allow the dumping of certain waste materials.
