  3. Story based videos engage the viewer more • Something else to focus on • Visual representation or interpretation of the song • Turn the song into an experience people will want to share.

  4. The Song • The lyrics really determine the video • (Lyrics on the last page of the proposal) • The lyrics talk about a lone girl…

  5. Storyline Summary • Girl alone, away from civilisation • Emotions • Boredom of being alone • Lashes out in anger multiple times • Finds old pendant • Walks around • Builds a frame stand • Hangs the pendant on it • Disappears forever

Target Audience • Music videos generally have a universal audience. • Where ever you distribute music, there will always be people that want to listen to it • This genres audience can be narrowed down slightly… Typical listeners • Teens / Young adults • ‘Musicmachinery.com’ – states Pop Rock… • More males than females • Middle and lower socio economic groups

  7. These people could be… • Technicians • Small business owners • Students • Teachers • Plumbers • Craftsmen • Etc. However…Since there's such a diverse range of listeners Targeting a specific group is not essential nor going to help. The main priority… Making the video engaging and memorable

Competitors • Other companies have traditionally taken the performance or mixed video option when creating videos for the band. • They work… • But as stated are not as popular as ones that really add extra depth to the song. • Some rivals frequently use static shots in the videos. • I want to use as much subtle camera movement as possible. • Since it gives the video a more fluid feel and ultimately makes it more engaging and enjoyable.

Other videos always use lighting and colour to style the video and create atmosphere and set the mood within the video. • I’ll be doing the same by stylising the footage in post to achieve a light but eerie look, using slight desaturation to create a washed result. • Every video usually leaves a huge sense of mystery to it, so the audience is never really certain what’s happening, this keeps them engaged and builds tension. Often never resolved at the end. • Again I’ll be adopting a similar idea for my video, some events may be unclear, and the audience may not fully understand. But that works perfectly with the song anyway. • (More information see pages 1 and 2)

Market / Distribution • Rules and regulations concerning what can and can’t be broadcast had to be taken into consideration… • A video that can’t be shown and will then never be seen is obviously useless. • Some ideas I had would have been potentially to risky, so I adjusted plans and will avoid breaching regulations. • (More detail seen on page 2)

I’d upload the video to YouTube since it’s become the perfect platform. • It’s sharing features allow anyone the ability to instantly share the video across multiple platforms to friends family and followers. • Branching out and becoming visible, popping up on the newsfeeds of hundreds, even thousands more people just a the click of a button.

  12. Cast & Crew • 3 people… • Myself • An assistant for lighting and camera operation • And an actress

  13. Budget • The budget for the entire production… • £30 • Two thirds of which is being used to pay cast and crew for travel expenses • The other for any unforeseen circumstances • (More information seen on page 4)
