General exam format3

General Exam Format

  • Unscheduled breaks in the middle of a section will be marked as “unscheduled break” on your exam, time will continue to run on that section and you will not be allowed to access any personal material (phone, books, etc)

  • Once you have completed a section, it will be CLOSED and cannot be re-accessed

  • You may take the exam only once per year

Scoring

Scoring

  • New scoring scale (2012): scores now reported in 1-point increments on a scale from 1 to 300. Passing standard score is now 180, which is an absolute standard.

  • Pass/Fail decisions will be based on an individual’s demonstrated mastery of content & whether or not they have met the defined standard.

General exam equating measures

General Exam: Equating Measures

  • Multiple exam forms are used to ensure security

  • The same passing standard is applied to each version

  • Every attempt is made to ensure that the difficulty level of the various forms is as equal as possible, but slight variance may occur

  • A statistical process known as equating is applied to ensure candidates are not adv/disadv by their form.

  • A given scaled score will reflect the same level of content mastery regardless of the form administered
