De soto history. • DeSoto’s parents lived in a region of poverty and hardship. • Badajoz and Barcarrota claim to be his birthplace. • He spent time at each place. • Spain was filled with young men seeking a chance for military fame. • With discovery of new lands to the west, these young men like deSoto were attracted to promises of glory and wealth
De sotoshistory. • In 1524, he went on an expedition to Nicaragua, South America, with Francisco de Cordoba. De Soto sided with Pedro Arias de Ávila (also called Pedrarias Dávila) against Cordoba (who had tried to claim land for himself), and Cordoba was killed. De Soto lived for a while in Nicaragua, prospering by engaging in the slave trade.
Time line on de soto. Hernando de Soto was born in Spain, in the 1500's. Hernando de Soto was influenced by three men of his time, Ponce de Leon who discovered North America, Balboa who discovered the Pacific Ocean at Panama,and Ferdinand Magellan who sailed the ocean to the Orient. He helped conquer and explore Central America. The Emporer of the Inca Empire, Atahualpa was murdered over the objections of de Soto.
De sotos Life. • Growing older Hernando de Soto rode horses, played sports,and became a very skilled hunter. • As life went on the family's money went to his older brother, so Hernando de Soto began his own living. From then on, Hernando de Soto began his life as an adventurer, then became a Spanish explorer as an adult. • Heading towards, the end of de Soto's journey, de Soto got into a war with the North of Mauvilla and got speared in his middle of his body for a week. Surviving alone he found himself lying on the ground.
