  2. Course Information(press enter to continue) • 0.5 unit of credit • 5-week course • 3-4 hours per week required in lab • TBA means you can attend class during the days and times that are convenient for you within the scheduled lab hours (posted in lab) • Must meet weekly progress goals

  3. The Progress Folder • The progress folder is your roadmap through the course • ALWAYS remains in the lab file cabinet (please do not take folder home) • Highlights all course information • Lesson procedures • Testing • The small print

  4. Attendance Requirements • Attendance is taken on the computer as you enter the lab. • Login and logout every time you attend class using your student ID number. • 30-minute minimum each session for system to track your time in the lab. • 3-4 hours per week required

  5. Progress Requirements • Weekly completion dates will be given to you at the end of this orientation based on today’s date. • If you need to put off starting your ten-key class for any reason, let the teacher aide know. Otherwise you will be dropped for unsatisfactory progress. • Ahead of schedule is very GOOD! • Behind schedule is not good!

  6. What If I’m Absent??? • If you are out for more than one week, you need to contact us so we can make a notation in our files. 395-4661 • If you are absent and don’t let us know, you may be dropped or receive an “F” grade. • It is very important that you maintain good attendance and progress!

  7. Lesson Procedure • Click the computer calculator icon on the desktop to enter the program. • Follow all text instructions printed in BLUE. • Ignore all PINK instructions.

  8. More Lesson Procedures • Complete all assignments on Progress Folder. • Repeat any exercise with more than 6 errors. (Check totals—not individual entries—with answer sheet provided.) • Ask instructor to sign off when assignment is complete. (Put up the YELLOWtent!) • Save tape only if instructor is unable to sign off lesson right away. PLEASE DO NOT PRINT ANY EXERCISES!

  9. Testing & Grading • When all exercises are completed satisfactorily, ask for the PRACTICE TEST. • Take the practice test twice. (8 minutes each—may take more than twice to prepare for the final exam.) • The grading scale for course is printed on the inside of your progress folder. • Grade is based on total strokes in 8 minutes.

  10. Read the small print on your progress folder carefully. This is your contract about completing the course. Attendance hours per week are REQUIRED! Course Contract I understand that I must attend class a minimum of five hours per week and complete the weekly course assignments and tests as stated on the progress record. If I fall five hours behind or do not make satisfactory progress, I may be dropped from the course without notice or may receive an “F” grade. Completion Dates • Remember to sign and date the Course Contract on your folder. • Give your progress folder to the teacher aide for your completion dates. • Students with disabilities who believe they may need accommodations in this class are encouraged to contact Disabled Student Programs & Services located at Student Services Building, 1st Floor, Counseling Center (661-395-4334), as soon as possible to better ensure such accommodations are implemented in a timely fashion.
