  3. BIEC • What may the ‘British Institute of Eating Control (BIEC) be responsible for?

  4. News Report • Watch the short video • Make bullet points of what each person has to say • (the video will be paused after each interview)

  5. BIEC proposed action • What does the BIEC want to do? • Why do they want to introduce the ban, and fine? • Does everyone agree with this? • How do you know?

  6. For and against • In your groups divide your large sheet of paper into two sections • In one section record the arguments for the ban • In the other record the arguments against the ban • Identify which points are ‘Fact’ and which are ‘Opinion’

  7. Consequences • What effect would the ban have on • Young people? • Shop owners? • Parents?

  8. Alternatives • What alternatives are there for: • Young people under 16? • Shop owners? • Parents? • Each alternative should be based on scientific reasoning (“because....”)

  9. You decide! • Should the ban be put in place? • GREEN for YES • Red for NO
