  2. The four partner countries including Slovenia, Training, Occupation and Care Centre from Draga Slovakia, Theatre from the Passage from Banska Bystrica, Germany , Bergische Volkshochschule from Solingen Hungary, HilferCommunication Development and Services Ltd. from Budapest have joined to promote the voice of people with disability via art.

  3. All the activities were made more interesting by the participation of professional artist as: several painters, sculptors, actors and drama and film directors.

  4. The main aims of the project were: • to build confidence and personal development for • the disadvantaged targetgroup • - to provide an opportunity for self-expression in art • - to learn foreign language and developing effective • communication • to work towards possible future employment • to create ways to experience other cultures and best practice through teamwork for learners and teachers • - to exchange project achievements and teaching • practice/methodology • to raise awareness of equality/human rights issues • to shape the attitude of society regarding disabled people.

  5. Participants have been working in the area of portraits, towards a final exhibition at the National Museum in Budapest in summer 2009. Main theme was to portray disabled people’s everyday lives, their reality and their aspirations.

  6. Over two years, more than 55 learners with special educational needs and 25 teachers with the support of professional artists were involved in several art and drama workshops.

  7. All the outcomes do proof the values and all the varieties of achievements for learners and teachers involved in the project: • numerous art exhibits created during work shops in Slovenia, Germany • and Slovakia, • Unique Grand exhibition of arts at Hungarian National Museum, • - drama performance at the exhibition opening

  8. The students were involved in all stages of the project. Being able to look at themselves from another point of view, they developed self awareness and acquired several different competences on the spot.

  9. Both students and teachers have contributed to art work actively and have laid down the foundations for the future project activities.
