  1. Unit 1 Project United Nations Inspection team’s report about the conditions of some African Nations

  2. Your Mission • You are members of a United Nations inspection team sent to Africa to investigate three areas of concern. It is believed that all three areas of concern have experienced problems as a result of the legacy of Colonialism. • Economic Development • Health Care • Genocide • Each of the Five teams will research a different region of Africa.

  3. Your Job • Your main job is to investigate what is happening in certain countries in Africa, and make a report that either supports the actions that are already going on, or recommends a different course of action.

  4. Your Job • What do you need to do? • Research a specific country in Africa, and catalogue information about one of the three areas of concern. Each member of your team will research a different country and a different area of concern. • Sort that information into relevant and viable information, and put the rest away for now. • Create a report back to the United Nations headquarters, detailing what you think should be done and investigate the alleged link to colonialism. • You will need to make some assumptions about the alleged link to colonialism. • Develop a power point presentation with at least 8-10 slides but no more than 12, which illustrates the situation in your country.

  5. Research • Use your knowledge of the Internet and print media to research a country in your region of Africa. • Research population density, civil wars, physical geography and climate, natural resources, government type, Infant mortality rate, life span expectancy, agriculture, ethnic groups, literacy rate, GDP, cash crops, industries, and any other topic you think will help form your picture.
