  4. Antarctic research in Finland • The main source for the Antarctic research funding is the Ministry of Education. This funding is distributed by the Academy of Finland. • The funding is given to research projects in four year periods and the current projects are funded for the years 2009-2012.

  5. Finnish Antarctic Research Program • The Finnish Antarctic Research Program (FINNARP) maintains the Finnish research station Aboa in Queen Maud Land and is also responsible for the logistics. • FINNARP is situated at the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Photo: FINNARP

  6. Data management • In Finland there is no central national data centre for the Antarctic data. • The data is stored at the research institutes and universities which are doing research there. • Generally AMD is well appreciated in Finland, especially among younger researchers
