Why should Endeavor be involved?(created following GEW 2008) • Become the beacon for entrepreneurship in emerging markets; • Create a culture of entrepreneurship in emerging markets; • Strengthen ties between local outreach teams, and global and local offices; • Strengthen its relationship with the Kauffman Foundation, the largest entrepreneurship-focused foundation in the world. • 7 Endeavor offices served as hosts or co-hosts of • Global Entrepreneurship Week, 2 as partners

Plan of Action (following GEW 2008) In February 2009, Endeavor’s outreach teams came together for a conference sponsored by Kauffman Foundation to define success for GEW 2009: • Create an ecosystem that supports entrepreneurship in emerging markets; • Become the “go-to” organization for High-Impact Entrepreneurship in emerging markets; • Build the High-Impact Entrepreneurship movement globally.

  4. 2009 GEW Targets (set February 2009) • Create an entrepreneurial ecosystem • Build a coalition of 500 partners who host 3000 events total • Feature 200 High-Impact Entrepreneurs at events • Become the “go-to” organization for High-Impact Entrepreneurship • Develop partnership with major media organization in each country to reach 100 million people • Build the High-Impact Entrepreneurship movement globally • Host 1 major event locally • Secure 2 sponsors – one media, one corporate • Publish 1 major piece of research on High-Impact Entrepreneurship

  5. 2009 Result Highlights GE Week worldwide: 18,050  partners, 32,413 activities, 7.6 million participants,88 countries with campaigns Endeavor Countries: Lead host in 7 affiliates, partner in 2 affiliates, 701 partners, 1736 activities, 16,650 reached 61 Endeavor Entrepreneurs spoke at events

  6. Build the HIE Movement Endeavor and its partners hosted over 1700 events worldwide that reached over 5 million people (2.8% of the population). Through the 2009 Bota Pra Fazer campaign, Endeavor Brazil reached 30% of the population of Brazil. Through the 2009 web campaign, Endeavor Brazil drove 300 relevant blogposts and over 5500 google hits.

Build the HIE movement globally Endeavor Mexico, Brazil & Uruguay launched GEW social networking sites Endeavor South Africa, held a networking event broadcast to over 3,000 entrepreneurs, hosted at 35 venues across South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. Endeavor Colombia received media coverage by more than 25 websites Endeavor Egypt released the publication, “Building A Thriving Venture Ecosystem,” distributed to 400 sr. level executives, entrepreneurs & venture capitalists

  8. Create an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Endeavor partnered with over 701 organizations.

Become the “go-to” organization for HIE Endeavor Affiliates worked with over 44 Media Partners Globo TV – Endeavor Brazil Partnership Endeavor Brazil received $13MM in in-kind airtime (‘08 & ‘09), and $750K of in-kind support to make ads (‘08), including one with Michael Dell. Primedia – eTV – Endeavor South Africa Partnership Endeavor South Africa received 5249 media placements, from billboards to movie previews, reaching 14,442,309 people total.

  10. Creating High-Impact role-models Fatma Ghaly, Azza Fahmy Jewelry, Egypt Mario Chady, Spoleto, Brazil Isabella Jaras, Nutrabien, Chile 64 (excluding Br & Tk) Endeavor Entrepreneurs spoke at GE Week events. (43 Participated in 2008)

  11. Looking forward to 2010 • Become the recognized beacon for High-Impact Entrepreneurship in emerging markets and the Kauffman foundation; • Create a culture of entrepreneurship in emerging markets; • Strengthen ties between local outreach teams, and global and local offices.
