  1. His Resurrection & Our Redemption!

  2. 4 Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. – Galatians 1:4 What Can We Learn? • Jesus gave His life willingly. 18 No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded. - John 10:18 2. Jesus death was according to God’s plan. 11 Then Jesus said (to Pilate),“You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.” - John 19:11

  3. But Why? Rescue? Purchased our freedom, forgave our sins? …in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. – Galatians 1:4 13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, 14 who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. - Colossians 1:13-14 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled every-thing to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. - Colossians 1:19-20

  4. Jesus became our atoning sacrifice! 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. - Romans 8:3-4 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. -Romans 8:6

  5. That means: WE MUST CHANGE!! 22 (T)hrow off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. - Ephesians 4:22-24 Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. 15 It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. 16 May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God. - Galatians 6:14-16

  6. That means: WE MUST CHANGE!! “Following God’s leading will demand change. You cannot continue life as usual or stay where you are and go with God at the same time. Faith and action are like twins; they go together.” - Chuck Swindoll, Embraced by the Spirit “The kind of assignments God gives in the Bible are always God sized. They are always beyond what people can do because He wants to demonstrate His nature, His strength, His provision, His kindness to His people and to a watching world. That is the only way the world will come to know Him. – Henry Blackaby, Experiencing God And it is impossible to please God without faith. Heb. 11:6

  7. That means: WE MUST CHANGE!! What will show we’ve changed? 10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. - Colossians 3:10 8 But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. 9 Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. - Colossians 3:8-9 12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. - Colossians 3:12

  8. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. – Col. 3:3 Where is Christ? 3 The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. - Hebrews 1:3 27 For God wanted them (the Jews) to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. - Colossians 1:27

  9. Know This: • We were born into death (our sin nature) • Christ has always been “LIFE.” • Christ experienced death to remove its power from all who trust in Him. • Christ rose from the dead to share resurrected life with His Holy People! 11 When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. - Colossians 2:11

  10. The GREAT GOOD NEWS!! Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. - Colossians 2:13-14 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. - Colossians 3:1-4

  11. Benediction Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. -2 Cor. 13:11
