  1. Boot Camp 101(Pack Up & Ship Out Your Civies- Put On Your Uniform!) 081014 Love Rejoices In Truth & Trusts God In All Situations Of Life

  2. I Corinthians 13:1-8 “Love…is not provoked” (vs. 5) – present passive indicative of paroxunō – sharp fit of anger; burn with anger; be exasperated; throw a tantrum. It is not easily irritated. “Love…thinks no evil” (vs. 5) – “thinks” - present middle indicative of logidzomai – to count; calculate; enumerate; to set down as a matter of account; to think upon; ponder. “Evil” – kakos – wicked; corrupt; bad; destructive; distressing; wrong thinking; worthless thinking. Anything that is not a part of Divine Good. This is the thinking of Satan. It doesn’t plot evil or mind other people’s business. (Cf. Proverbs 6:16-19.) For right thinking, see Romans 12:9, 17-19.

  3. I Corinthians 13:1-8 “Love…does not rejoice in iniquity” (vs. 6) – “rejoice” - present active indicative of chairō – full of joy; to be glad. “iniquity” – adika – to act unjustly; sin; to violate a law; unrighteousness; wrong; moral wrongfulness of character, life, or actions. It doesn’t rejoice over the failures of others; it isn’t happy when others are in trouble; it has no expression of jealousy or vindictiveness; it doesn’t have a “I told you so” attitude. See II Thessalonians 2:12

  4. I Corinthians 13:1-8 • “Love does…rejoice in the truth” (vs. 6) – • “Rejoice” - present active indicative of sugchairō – to rejoice with. • From sun – denoting union; very close together with; completeness & chairō– to rejoice; be glad; to rejoice exceedingly. • “Truth” – alētheia – that which is true. • Cf. John 17:17. Love rejoices in those things which line up with Divine norms & standards. • The Filling of the Holy Spirit produces a hunger for the Word of God.

  5. I Corinthians 13:1-8 “Love does…bear all things” (vs. 7) – present active indicative of stegō – to protect or keep by covering; to preserve; to hold in. To bear up against - idea of supporting. To cover with silence; to keep secret – doesn’t betray a confidence.

  6. I Corinthians 13:1-8 “Love does…believe all things” (vs. 7) – present active indicative of pisteuō – to believe; have a mental persuasion; be convinced; place confidence in. Not gullibility, but Faith Rest (application of the Word) in ALL situations of life; the NOW situations! Doesn’t look for the bad side, but knows Romans 8:28; Ephesians 1:19; Mark 9:23
