Use of technology in Content Areas Examples of using technology to enhance learning: • Researching a topic online (reading online) • Using technology tools: • ipad, computer, netbooks, digital cameras, flip cameras, etc • Publishing work using technology: • Research reports • Brochures • Power Point, or Prezi presentation • Digital Stories

Preparing to write the Reflection on Learning: • Exit slip – using an index card students write down what they learned • Sticky note with main thoughts • Anchor Chart: generate ideas as whole group and teacher scribes ideas connected to learning in content area and technology • Word Bank: generate specific words to use in the reflection

  4. Reflecting on Learning • Content area learning: • Science • Social Studies • Mathematics • Language Arts • Physical Education • Art & Music • Technology: • We (teachers) ask ourselves: How did the use of technology enhance and extend learning?

  5. Writing the reflection • Quick writes to reflect on learning using technology • Exit slips • Post-its • Brainstorming ideas • Word banks that include both the content area and technology vocabulary • A reflection that demonstrates learning in the content area and the use of technology • A reflection that is specific to learning around the content and the technology used • The reflection will demonstrate and assess students’ knowledge of content.   7. Examples of Reflections • In the district’s shared folder • Create a new reflection specifically designed to assess content knowledge: • Pose questions that connect learning to the content area • Students may complete the reflection: • Whole group in the classroom using netbooks • In the media center or other lab areas • Individually • In some cases with individual modifications
