  6. Taking the hill • What is the hill we are to take? • How are we going to take the hill? • What is the flag we are going to plant?

  7. vs.17What is the hill we are to take?

  8. The appropriate response to our world is a rebooting of the mission, a concern about service and sacrifice rather than concern about style.

  13. Mission and Finances • Mission is more important than money. • Finances are the means by which our vision is implemented, but money follows mission and not the reverse. • When we grow the mission, the finances will grow. • We do the mission for the integrity of the mission. Mission is the goal in itself. • Financial literacy is birthed out of vision.

  14. vs.23-25What is the flag we are going to plant?

  15. “Vision must be harnessed. Because vision is greater than sight, deeper than a dream, and broader than an idea.” Leighton Ford

  16. We want to move from curriculum and text-driven to life-driven • Jesus facilitated spiritual formation in his disciples by introducing them to life situations and then helping them debrief their experiences.

  17. You don’t plan a wave, you prepare for a wave.

  18. What does vision do for us? • Vision moves away from a preoccupation with managing to doing the kingdom. • Vision informs your decision making. • Vision does not arrive from consensus, it inspires consensus. • Genuine vision engenders commitment

  19. What is the hill we are to take? Our communities and where we are sent in the world. • How are we going to take the hill? By becoming vision bearers who do what Jesus is doing. • What is the flag we are going to plant? The good news of the kingdom lived out

  20. “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.” Isaiah 54:2
