  5. What Does it Cost? ALL these services are affordable (or free) AND… NO ONE IS EVER TURNED AWAY DUE TO AN INABILITY TO PAY!

  6. What Does it Cost? AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2005, the following Family Health fees will apply: • Most shots are free through the Vaccines for Children program. We will charge $3.70 or $6.40 to give each shot (depending on the type of shot). • School and Sports Physicals will cost $20 • Sick Child Visits will cost $24.25 • Well Child Visits will cost $32.15 • Please ask us for a list of other Family Health Fees. We will bill Medicaid (KidCare) whenever possible. No patients will be turned away if they can’t pay these or any other fees!

Did You Know? • Last year nearly 3,800 people a month were enrolled in WIC at Public Health. • Our case managers help hundreds of women and their families gain access to medical care. • Pregnant women who come to us for prenatal care are more likely to have healthy babies. • We teach women to breastfeed their newborns. • We help pregnant women kick the smoking habit. • We help teen parents finish high school. • Last year we helped enroll about 800 kids in KidCare (Medicaid).

  9. Wellness & Health Promotion • We help people who have long-term medical problems. • We offer information and health services to people with diabetes. • We offer flu and pneumonia shots. • We can check your blood pressure & blood sugar levels at special clinics.

  10. Wellness & Health Promotion • The Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program helps eligible women get free mammograms and pap smears.

  11. What Does it Cost? All of these services are affordable (or free). AND… NO PATIENTS ARE EVER DENIED ANY SERVICES BECAUSE THEY CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY!

  12. What Does it Cost? AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2005, the following Community Health Nursing fees will apply: • Most shots are free through the Vaccines for Children program. We will charge $3.70 or $6.40 to give the shot (depending on the type of shot). • Adult flu shots will cost $15 plus $3.70 to give the shot = $18.70 • Adult pneumonia shots cost $26 plus $3.70 = $29.70 • Other adult shots (immunizations) and other services vary in price. Please ask us for a list of all Nursing fees. We will bill Medicaid (KidCare) or Medicare when possible. And no one will be turned away if they can’t pay these or any other fees!

  13. Vision Cooperative • A Vision screening for your child can prevent developmental and education problems. • CUPHD can get glasses for persons with Medicaid • We work with community partners to provide eye exams

  14. Surveillance & Planning • We keep track of outbreaks and work to reduce the spread of diseases. • We offer classes to help you stop smoking. • We provide child car seats to eligible families. • We study community health and work to get more services for everyone.

  15. Community Health Surveillance, Planning & Education • We plan for and train to respond to public health emergencies. • We support the Urbana School-based Health Center, where Urbana schoolchildren can get medical and dental care and counseling.

Community Health Surveillance, Planning & Education • We offer health education. • We work with hospitals and schools to keep track of local health trends. • We teach adults and kids how to avoid injury. • We promote healthy lifestyles and offer health screenings to men and women at risk of disease.

  17. Dental Health • We offer low cost dental care to children 3 to 18 who live in Champaign or Urbana. • Care includes exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings and other services. • Emergency cases are seen within 24 hours of calling our clinic.

  18. What Does it cost? • All services are affordable and most are covered by Medicaid (KidCare). • Please ask us for a list of all dental fees. AND REMEMBER… No patients will be turned away because they can’t afford to pay!

  19. Did You Know? • You can clean your child’s first teeth with a wet washcloth. Switch to a toothbrush when more teeth appear. • Permanent teeth come in when a child is 6-7 years old. • Make sure you brush twice a day for two minutes each time. • Flossing is a great way to fight cavities. Did You Know? • Dental checkups are required for kids entering kindergarten, second and sixth grades. • We offer dental checkups to children entering Head Start and day care programs. • Children who live in Urbana can also visit the Urbana School-based Health Center for dental care. Call (217) 239-4220 to schedule an appointment.

  21. HIV/STD/TB Prevention & Management • We offer counseling for those at risk of HIV or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). • HIV tests are free when you visit our STD clinic. • We offer pregnancy tests and give out condoms and other supplies. • All services are private and confidential.

  22. HIV/STD/TB Prevention & Management • We offer adult travel immunizations. • We screen those at risk for Hepatitis C, and offer Hepatitis A and B vaccinations. • We provide Tuberculosis tests and treatment.

  23. HIV/STD/TB Prevention & Management • Our mobile clinics bring services to many neighborhoods. • We offer services and support to HIV+ people and their families. • We hold a support group for people with Hepatitis.

  24. What Does it cost? AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2005, the following HIV/STD/TB fees will apply: • Adult flu shots will cost $15 plus $3.70 to give the shot = $18.70 • Adult pneumonia shots cost $26 plus $3.70 = $29.70 • Other adult shots (immunizations)cost between $33 and $82, depending on the shot. • There is a $20 suggested donation for the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic. • Please ask us for a list of all HIV/STD/TB fees. NO one will be turned away for inability to pay a fee!

  25. Did you know? • Last year 1,202 people in Champaign County tested positive for chlamydia, an STD that can cause infertility in women. Chlamydia is easily treated with antibiotics. • One person with untreated active Tuberculosis can infect 10 to 15 people per year! • The only way to find out if you are HIV+ is to be tested.   26. Environmental Health • We inspect restaurants, bars and other food and drink establishments. • We enforce environmental laws. • We issue permits for new water wells and private sewage systems.

  27. Environmental Health • We teach those who prepare food how to operate safely. • We look for sources of lead poisoning in homes and businesses. • We test mosquito pools for West Nile virus in Champaign County. • We inspect tattoo and tanning facilities. Carle Arbours
