  1. Know the Truth

  2. Know the Truth • Ephesians 4:1 (NKJV) 1  I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,

  3. Know the Truth • Conviction is having a deeply held belief that governors our actions.

  4. Know the Truth • Matthew 9:16-17 (NLT) 16  “Besides, who would patch old clothing with new cloth? For the new patch would shrink and rip away from the old cloth, leaving an even bigger tear than before. 17  “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.”

  5. Know the Truth • Ephesians 4:17-32 (NKJV) 17  This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18  having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19  who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20  But you have not so learned Christ, 21  if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22  that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23  and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24  and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

  6. Know the Truth • 25  Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another. 26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27  nor give place to the devil. 28  Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 29  Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31  Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.

  7. Know the Truth • “Old Man Ways” • Futility of mind, “senseless thinking” • Understanding Darkened, “lack of revelation” • Alienated from God, “living like there is no God” • Ignorance, “Unawareness of the truth” • Blindness of their heart, “no conviction”

  8. Know the Truth • Mark 7:20-23 (NKJV) 20  And He said, "What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 21  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22  thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23  All these evil things come from within and defile a man."

  9. Know the Truth • “Identity leads to action, actions then shape our identity” Good or bad

  10. Know the Truth • Proverbs 4:23 (NCV) 23  Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life. • Then Again in verse 26 • Proverbs 4:26 (NCV) 26  Be careful what you do, and always do what is right. • That’s why Paul says this in verse 20 of chapter 4 • 20  But you have not so learned Christ, 21  if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:

  11. Know the Truth • 1 Peter 4:1-5 (MSG) 1  Since Jesus went through everything you're going through and more, learn to think like him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way. 2  Then you'll be able to live out your days free to pursue what God wants instead of being tyrannized by what you want. 3 You've already put in your time in that God-ignorant way of life, partying night after night, a drunken and wasteful life. Now it's time to be done with it for good. 4  Of course, your old friends don't understand why you don't join in with the old gang anymore. But you don't have to give an account to them. 5  They're the ones who will be called on the carpet—and before God himself.

  12. Know the Truth • He does not want them to be ignorant of this truth • Ignorant means; unawareness of something, often of something important • John 8:36 (NKJV) 36  Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

  13. Know the Truth • John 8:36 (NKJV) 36  Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

  14. Know the Truth • Truth gives birth to Identity; • Identitygives birth to conviction, • Convictiongovernors our actions

  15. Know the Truth • Hosea 4:6a (NKJV) 6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. • Psalm 73:22 (NKJV) 22  I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You.

  16. Know the Truth • 1 Timothy 1:12-15 (YLT) 12  And I give thanks to him who enabled me--Christ Jesus our Lord--that he did reckon me steadfast, having put me to the ministration, 13  who before was speaking evil, and persecuting, and insulting, but I found kindness, because, being ignorant, I did it in unbelief, 14  and exceedingly abound did the grace of our Lord, with faith and love that is in Christ Jesus: 15  steadfast is the word, and of all acceptation worthy, that Christ Jesus came to the world to save sinners--first of whom I am;

  17. Know the Truth • “Identity leads to action, actions then shape our identity”

  18. Know the Truth • Maybe you have had the illusion that you have sinned too much and that God cannot forgive? • Maybe you have been tricked into thinking you will never change? • Maybe you have been convinced that it’s okay to let the weeds “ Sin “ grow in your garden? • Maybe you have believed the lie that you are still bound up, when in fact you have been set free!

  19. Know the Truth • Step one is knowing Jesus, Jesus is truth! Step two is knowing who you are in Christ! Step Three, Then you will be able to walk it out !! • Where do you stand today?
