  2. In Honour of Piero Boscolo Piero and I wrote in the Foreward of our edited book Writing and Motivation (2007) that writing has implications across the curriculum at all levels of schooling and affects students’ academic performance across subject matter. We also pointed to students’ lack of motivation as a major problem for writing instruction and suggested that difficulty of demanding academic writing tasks may contribute to this problem.

  3. In Honour of Piero Boscolo Nobody among writing researchers spent more effort to address how academic writing could be fostered and to address conceptual and theoretical issues related to writing, motivation and genre differences than Piero. The body of work he produced has significantly impacted the field and has contributed to building a more significant understanding of how writing and motivation are related.

  4. In Honour of Piero Boscolo On a personal note, I have met Piero in Washington D.C. in 1987 at the AERA conference. He presented a Poster on writing and as I was working in the same area at the time, we had a lot in common. This meeting was followed by annual conferences in Boston, New Orleans, New York, San Francisco and Montreal, among many others, and we became not only co-authors and co-editors but also friends. We met and worked in Milan, Como and Padova on one side of the Atlantic and Toronto and Florida on the other side. I thoroughly enjoyed my association with Piero and feel that he as an academic, as a collegue and as friend  enriched my life as those of many others.

  5. In Honour of Piero Boscolo Ciao Piero for now and let us continue our journey and friendship in the future!
