  4. ITERATE

  5. metaphor: why? metaphor making is really about iteration inspiration

  6. “house of straw” vs. “house of cards” “big bad wolf” vs. “huff and puff” metaphor: example? “outfoxing your opponent” vs. “outsmarting your opponent” notice what each makes you feel, see, smell, hear, taste

  7. metaphor: what? Using the experience of your solution from user testing and identifying sensory non-verbal cues so that you activate your user’s imagination to fill in the blanks. you want the user’s imagination to do all the of work (you just set the right trajectory)

  8. metaphor: how? use your senses access your imagination test your metaphor

  9. metaphor: how? and extract only that which is your solution experience. Abstract away everything particular to the context

  10. metaphor: why? “a solid foundation weathers all turns of the wheel of fortune” vs. “sweat on the brow when preparing pays off in facing adversity”

  11. show your tested prototypes (5 min) display all prototypes in teams (only displaying!) share your testing learnings(10 min) 1-2 post-it notes learnings (only post-its!) consolidate with metaphors (15 min) 1-2 post-it notes: “what is this prototype really about?”(only post-its!) iterate into a new prototype (15 min) aim for 1-2 prototypes per team now in your teams

  12. story design

  13. your solution your users’ needs

  14. beta testing focus groups client dinners testingwith users... pre-release usability centers web analytics surveys

  15. your testing mindset use your prototypes as a probe to continue to gain empathy for your users be clear what variable you are testing

  16. your testing mindset use your prototypes as a probe to continue to gain empathy for your users be clear what variable you are testing

  17. test: how? establish roles within the team set the stage let the user experience the prototype observe the experience check in with the user record your learning throughout iterate and repeat

  18. Record your learning! + What worked… - What to improve… !! Ideas… ? Questions…

  19. test: how? establish roles within the team set the stage let the user experience the prototype observe the experience check in with the user record your learning throughout iterate and repeat 60 minutes for testing and iterating

  20. story design

  21. story design it’s a human centered way to communicate

  22. story design

  23. your story design what’s most important in your solution? solution prototyping what is missing from their life? sum it up. focus on your learning. need learning who are they? user happily ever after…

  24. your story design what’s most important in your solution? solution prototyping what is missing from their life? sum it up. focus on your learning. need learning who are they? user happily ever after… a 90 second story

  25. TO PRINT FOR TEAM SPACES

  26. what’s most important in your solution? solution prototyping what is missing from their life? sum it up. focus on your learning. need learning who are they? user happily ever after…
