Educational Programs & Operations Levy • Total levy amount is $49.1 million in 2011; $52.5 million in 2012; $56.2 million in 2013; $60.1 million in 2014 • Makes up 19 percent of the district’s operating budget • Pays for part and sometimes all of many general items including: • Teacher training, planning time • Utilities • Textbooks • Transportation • Student activities and athletics • Safety & security • Maintenance and custodial

  4. Educational Programs & Operations Levy • Requires 50% to pass • Equal to the cost of 612 teachers in the first year • Can be used to pay for any operating cost – things that will be used within a shorter period of time (usually one year)

Capital Projects Levy - Facilities Includes: • Life Cycle Planning – protect investment in school buildings by upgrading/replacing systems like roofs/flooring/heating as they reach end of life • Energy/Conservation – reduce general fund expense for utilities • Compliance/Safety, including improved disabled access • School requests for facility improvements • Athletics - replacement of worn or substandard gym floors, fields, etc.

  6. Capital Projects Levy – Technology Portion Includes: • Student learning tools such as access to computers, library databases, software and other tools • Teaching tools including replacement of computers, electronic whiteboards, projectors, as well as training for teachers to be able to put the tools to best use. • Parent information tools, including Web-based grade and attendance information, emergency notification • Computers and productivity software for support and administrative staff • Infrastructure and support

Capital Projects Levy • Requires 50% majority to pass • Combined measure covering both technology and facilities items • Total levy amount is $18 million in 2011; $19.6 in 2012; $21.7 in 2013 and $23.7 in 2014 • Funds raised can only be used for capital items: things that have specific value and are longer lasting, such as technology items or major repairs/upgrades to buildings • Funds raised can be used to pay for training to use these items, for managing installation and repair of these items • Funds raised cannot be moved to the general operating budget to pay for anything else not related to these items

Bond Measure – Modernization, Growth • Bond Measure • $234 Million Bond • Funds: • Two elementary schools to prevent overcrowding (Redmond Ridge East, growth area near Einstein) • Additions at Redmond & Eastlake High Schools • New EAS expansion & facility • Modernization of Juanita High School

Bond Measure – Modernization, Growth • Requires 60% supermajority to pass • Allows the district to sell 20-year bonds • Adds about 32 cents per thousand to the current debt district is paying on past modernization bonds • Can only be used to build or modernize schools • Cannot be moved to the general operating budget to pay for anything else
