  8. What do we know? • Temple tax collected - month before Passover (all over Israel) - All males over 20 • drachma (Greek coin) = denarius (Roman coin)
About 1 day’s wages - +$100 • Currency in Jesus’ day...

Currency in Jesus’ Day 1 Shekel = 4 drachma (denarii) = ±$600 1 Drachma (Greek) = 1 Denarius (Roman) = ±$150 About a day’s wage for a laborer. 1 Sestertius (Roman) = 1/4 Denarius (Drachma) = ±$40 1 Assarion (Roman) = 1/4 Sestertius = $5 - $10 1 Quadran (Roman) = 1/4 Assarion = ±$2 1 Lepton (Greek) = 1/2 Quadron = ±$1

  16. Romans 2:4-5 “4 …God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? 5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.”

  17. 1 Cor 3: 12-15 “13 each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”
