Public Health Data Standards Consortium2004 – 2005 Directions • Bringing Local Public Health to the Consortium: • “Where rubber meets the road” : Addressing State & Local Health Departments perspectives in implementing public health data standards for Local Health Information Infrastructure (LHII) • Increase membership of State and Local Health Departments and other agencies in the Consortium • Facilitate growing leadership of representatives from the State and Local levels in the Consortium

Public Health Data Standards Consortium2004 – 2005 Directions • Bringing Local Public Health to the Consortium: • Address the perspectives of State and Local agencies in the Consortium’s activities, e.g., EHR implementation demonstration in public health, educational activities • Collaborate with NACCHO, ASTHO, CSTE and others

Public Health Data Standards Consortium2004 – 2005 Directions • Bridging Public Health and Clinical Care: • Increase membership of professional organizations representing clinical care in the Consortium • Represent public health in clinical care standard development activities via participation in SDOs, DCCs (e.g., HL7, X12, SNOMED) and relevant national healthcare standardization activities, e.g., CHI, EHR etc. • Collaborate with eHealth Initiative, AHIMA, AMA, AHA, American Telehealth Association, and others

Public Health Data Standards Consortium2004 – 2005 Directions • Address needs of public health informatics training • Increase membership of Academic Institutions in the Consortium • Help identify essential functions and competencies for public health informatics • Support for executive-level public health informaticians at each state

Public Health Data Standards Consortium2004 – 2005 Directions • Address needs of public health informatics training • Facilitate growing leadership of representatives from the Academic Institutions in the Consortium • Participate in the development of core competency for public health informatics • Develop collaboration with Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) and American Public Health Association (APHA)
