  1. Setting a Night Time Routine for Your Baby Taking care of a newborn is a tough job and when the baby doesn’t sleep through the night it can get hard for the new parents. Unable to rest properly makes it difficult to take care of the baby and get the regular chores done during the day. Here are a few tips that will help you make your little one sleep through the night so you are not tired every day and can take best care of your baby. The first couple of months with your newborn can be quite challenging. Your life revolves around your bundle of joy. And you are busy as a beaver taking care of the little one twenty-four hours. Getting up at night to feed your baby and change diapers every couple of hours becomes the new normal. Yes, the first two or three months you might be sleep deprived at most babies wake up at night for a feed and nappy change. Using the best overnight diapers will help to keep your baby dry so your baby can sleep undisturbed for long hours. But there might be other reasons for your baby waking up a couple of times during the night. After the few initial months, by four to six month, most babies start to sleep throughout the night. If your baby still gets up you may want to look into a few things. Your baby might be too hot/cold, or teething might be the reason for your baby crying at night, the diaper is full and the baby feels uncomfortable or it can be separation anxiety. Whatever the reason, it is important that you help your baby learn to self soothe and go back to sleep. Some tips that will help you develop a good bedtime routine so the baby can sleep comfortably through the night are: 1. During the day it makes perfect sense to change your baby’s diaper in a few hours to keep your baby fresh and active. But for nights you need a greater absorbency diaper, so get extra dry pants. With better absorbency, junior night pants will keep the top layer dry so the baby doesn't feel wet and uncomfortable during the night. So check for night diapers online. Buy the best quality which ensures that your baby gets a long and sound sleep at night. 2. 2. Set a routine. Give your baby a bath with warm water. Dress your baby comfortably according to the weather. If it's hot dress your baby in light clothes and if it's cold, dress the baby in warm and cozy clothes. After feeding your baby, dim the light and make sure it’s quite in the room. No television or phones now. 3. Let the baby learn to sleep on her own. This means you do not feed the baby to sleep. Also, do not rock your baby to make her fall asleep. Otherwise, the baby will expect it every time she wakes up and can’t go back to sleep. Simply lay your baby in the cot and dim the lights. Have a few soft toys and a musical crib mobile in the baby’s cot. The calming sound of the musical mobile will lull the baby to sleep. You can even read a story to your little one. Set this routine and gradually your baby will learn to sleep on her own. 4. As the baby falls asleep turn off the light. Make sure the phone is on silent and it’s quite in the room. If your baby gets up crying at night, wait for some time before you head to pick him up. Let your baby try to calm down and settle on his own. If he continues crying, check the baby’s diaper. If it's dry, simply pat the baby and let him know its fine and time to sleep. Once he is settled allow the baby to go back to sleep on his own. If the baby is still cranky and just can’t sleep on own -- rock him to sleep. Sometimes teething or an infection can be the reason for your baby’s disturbed sleep. Consult a pediatrician for proper treatment of the problem. Setting a routine, dressing up the baby in comfortable clothes, keeping the room temperate mild, and a relaxed and soothing room environment will aid in developing your baby’s sleep routine. And soon your baby will sleep tight and wake up fresh and active in the morning. MamyPoko India Email: customercare@unicharm.com Call us - +91 9971988339 Timing: 10:00 AM -5:00 PM (Monday-Friday)
