Geography • Absolute Location: 29 30 N, 45 45 E • Relative Location: Its on water near the Person Gulf • They move in and also out by planes • They move around by cars • Kuwait has dry deserts, intensely hot summers, and short, cool winters • The per capita GDP is 60,800. This is a picture of some oil workers at an oil reserve.

  3. History • Kuwait was established in 1756 • Iraq came into Kuwait in August 1990 which started the Person Gulf War • Iraq occupied Kuwait and as an outcome they launched the Gulf War This is a map of Kuwait and their capitol is Ash –Shuwaykh.

  4. Politics • It is a national assembly democracy and a constitutional monarchy • Kuwait has two types of government • Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah is head of Kuwait currently This is Kuwait’s leader.

Culture • Mostly spoken language is Arabic but English is still spoken • Holidays: Muhammad’s birth= AD 570 Muhammad’s death= June 8, 632 • Men wear long robes and a cloth headdress • Women wear long thin robes (burqa) • Children wear a western style and everyone wears leather sandals year round

  6. Culture • The Muslims pray at least five times a day • They pray on a prayers mat • When they pray it strengthens their commitment to god Religions • Sunni 70%, Shia 30%, other includes Christian, Hindu, Parsi 15% • 85% of people are Muslim This is what a man in Kuwait would usually wear.

  7. Facts and Figures • Population Growth= 3.59% • Population= 152,596,799 • Life Expectancy= Male: 76.38 Female: 78.75 • Literacy Rate= Male: 94.4% Female: 91% This is a picture of Kuwait in the daytime.

Interesting Information • People who are in the military have at least one month in annual training. • In Kuwait there are usually 900,000 internet users, but in America there are 413,183,671 internet users. Way more than Kuwait. • Usually a male will invite his male guests to go to a separate part of the room called a diwaniyah where they relax, converse, eat, and drink tea or coffee. This is a man in Kuwait.

  9. Interesting Information • The flag of Kuwait was established in 1961. It has: • A black trapezoid and three bands of green, white, and red • Those colors are called the pan-Arab colors and are used in many other Arab flags • Kuwait people sit at low tables on floor cloths • They have individual plates and lunch is the main meal of the day This is Kuwait’s current flag to their country.
