  1. Stories of the Quran-People Of The Garden(Surah 68:17-33)

  2. The of the People of Garden is but a small story in the Quran.  Allah has mentioned this in the Surah Al Qalam(Surah 68:17-33)

  3. Once upon a time there lived a wealthy and pious man. He had a big garden always full of green trees laden with fruits. When the fruits were ripe, this kind-hearted man used to distribute some of the fruits among the poor. The poor people around him would wait for the fruits to become ripe and gather near the garden during this season. They would be happy after getting their share and go away.

  4. Allah liked this act of the man. By the grace of Allah the Garden used to give rich harvest every season. Whoever spends in the name of Allah gets the reward in this life as well as in the life after death.

  5. This practice continued for many years & the garden blossomed & flourished with each passing year.

  6. The man had many sons. They were not God-fearing as their father. So when their father died, they discussed a plan and said to each other that their father was not a wise man.

  7. The sons thought that their father did not know how difficult it was to earn livelihood. They did not like his practice of distributing some of the fruits among the poor .

  8. They felt that since they work so hard for the garden so only they should benefit from it. They thought they would also be ruined if they spend like this. One of the brothers suggested plucking all the fruits of the garden in the night before morning, so that nobody could come and ask for his share. All others agreed .

  9. Since they were not even afraid of Allah, they forgot to say ‘Insha-Allah’, which means if Allah Wills. If a Muslim does not say so before doing something Allah may not fulfill his wish. All the brothers went to sleep with a view to getting up early in the morning and gather the ripe fruits.

  10. Before the dawn broke, all of them got up and hurried up towards the garden happily so that they would not have to share anything with the poor people this year.

  11. As they were walking towards the garden, they were quite unaware that Allah had planned otherwise.  The garden had become burnt like a dark spot, deserted, and razed to the ground.

  12. They thought that they had lost their way and this was not their garden.  But when they saw there was no other way around, they were sad and depressed. All their hard work had gone.

  13. Now they realized that it is only Allah who would increase their fruits if they continued to give away some of them in charity.  Now all of them felt bad over their misdeed

  14. Then they turned, to one another, and praised Allah swt and admitted their mistake before Allah.  All of them, then, asked Allah’s forgiveness and promised never to do such a mistake again so that Allah may bless them again with a better garden.
