  2. What is Bengal PAWS? • Bengal PAWS (Personal Access to Web Services) is the new system for students currently enrolled at Buffalo State • Bengal PAWS allows students to access their personal information at the college online • This presentation will guide you through Bengal PAWS

  3. The SABRE Front Door The entry point for Bengal PAWS (Personal Access to Web Services)

  4. This is the SABRE Front Door. This page will be accessible from the Current Student Page from our Buffalo State Web Page. Clicking on Resources will cause the Resources screen to appear.

  5. This page contains links to areas of interest. Click on the item of interest and further relevant information will appear

  6. Dates important to students will appear in this area of the SABRE Front Door. Clicking on FAQs from the SABRE Front Door causes the Frequently Asked Questions screen to appear.

  7. This Frequently Asked Questions Page has links to some of the most commonly asked questions concerning the information shown on the Bengal PAWS site. Click on a question and the answer will appear.

  8. Degree Navigator will be accessible from the SABRE Front Door in the near future

  9. Click on PAWS to enter the Bengal PAWS system.

  10. We are now going into Bengal PAWS

  11. This is the login screen. Students use it to enter the Bengal PAWS system.

  12. The highlighted tab, Student Info is the folder you are in. In this case we are getting ready to enter the student information section of PAWS If you go to any tab other than Student Info, you will exit the student information area.

  13. Enter your Student username and your SABRE password (it’s the first 5 digits of your Social Security Number) and click on LOGIN. If you accidentally click LOGOUT, you will exit PAWS.

  14. This is the Student Profile Screen. Information shown here includes students’ major, student level, cumulative GPA, hours completed at BSC, transfer hours and total hours When students have holds, a notice appears on the My Profile screen to alert the student.

  15. If you click on the Exit button, you will return to the SABRE Front Door Graduate students will be able to see whether or not they have declared their Candidacy.

  16. Click the All button to display all major types (primary, dual and secondary) and minors, their status and effective dates (active and historic).

  17. Click the Close button to return to the My Profile screen.

  18. Click the My Degree button to display the type of degree(s), degree status, effective year and term, major and date received.

  19. Click the Close button to return to the My Profile screen.

  20. The current addresses are shown in the Addresses tab. If there has been a problem with the address, a note will display above the address to alert the student.

  21. The Data Change Form button will bring up a Data Change Form that can be printed, filled out and taken (or mailed) to the Registrars Office.

  22. Following is a sample of the Data Change Form

  23. My Schedule shows students’ current schedule of courses, grade, times and locations. “W” appears in the grade field if a student has withdrawn and a “/” appears if the student is taking the course “pass/fail.”

  24. Bills/Aid displays charges, aid and refunds (if applicable) for the current semester Status Bar Place the cursor in the Aid field and click once to view a translation of the aid on the Status Bar.

  25. Click the Show button and a popup window appears that breaks down the Fees.

  26. Click Close to return to Bills/Aid

  27. Click the Refund button and a popup window appears that shows whether a refund has been issued to the student along with the date sent and for what year and term.

  28. Click Close to return to Bills/Aid

  29. The Holds screen displays all current holds that students have together with the office to contact in order to find out more about the hold and/or remove it.

  30. This screen shows the date and time that students can begin registration. This student can register. However, if no information appeared here the student would not be eligible to attend registration.

  31. As with all the other screens, clicking on the Exit button will return the student to the SABRE Front Door.

  32. We will now leave the Student Information section of Bengal PAWS and view the Forms (pdf), Miscellaneous and Student email tabs

  33. Here all college forms currently available for students to download from the web are listed. Students no longer have to go to individual offices to access these forms. Special Note: Forms cannot be submitted on line. Clicking on the form will download (in ADOBE ACROBAT) the form. Forms can then be printed, completed and turned in to the appropriate office.

  34. Various Web links are available here for students. Click on desired area and further data will appear.

  35. Students can access their student e-mail here.

  36. Be sure to LOGOUT when you are done. You can also LOGOUT here.
