  1. The main religion of Palestine is Islamic. (Muslim) • The main religion of Israel is Judaism. • The main point between the conflict between the two countries is the city of Jerusalem. • The conflict resides around Jerusalem because both countries want it to be their capital, and both countries claim it to be their territory. Neither one will give up. • As of now, Jerusalem has been taken over by the military. The problem is that Jerusalem holds many religious places or icons for Jewish people and Islamic people, so neither religion will give up territory that they believe to be holy or sacred. Jerusalem has been divided into three sections for Muslims, Catholics, and Judaists because each religion can be traced back to the city. Religions. 2. Jerusalem is considered to be the oldest and second most holy city in the world. This is the reason that it is a huge controversy, because the city is very valuable and has huge religious icons for both Judaism and Muslims. • Some of the important religious places are: • The First Temple • Temple Mount • Western Wall • Church of the Holy Sepulchre • Dome of the Rock • al-AqsaMosue http://www.atlastours.net/holyland/al_aqsa_mosque.html For Jewish people, King David settled there and declared to be holy. For Christians, Jerusalem has been their holy city since was crucified there. For Islamic people, iChristt has been holy since it was the focal point for Muslim prayer. (Salah) • No single group of people that have the same beliefs wants to share what they believe to be rightfully theirs with other religions.
