  2. Project Summary • Metal finishing technology (producing of a protecting coating on a metal substrate) is utilized in numerous industries including automotive, aerospace, electrical and electronics, mining, and consumer decorative coatings. The finishing technology lends high corrosion resistance and increases the substrates’ durability. Demand for metal protecting coatings constantly grows with opportunity to reach about 80B Euro by 2020 for the global metal finishing market. Electroplating is the leading market segment with more than 35% share. For European economy, electroplating plays an important role as a component of an automotive industry, while in Russia it is widely used, for example, in petroleum industry. • To address the needs of the metal finishing industrial sector, we proposes to implement a new metal coating process able to enhance the mechanical performances of the coatings, while substantially improves the quality of goods, decrease the environmental impact of the process and its overall cost. • Importantly, this new process can be seamlessly integrated in the existing work practices, without requiring critical changes nor to the equipment used nor to the competencies needed. We use innovative concepts aimed at efficiently incorporating ND particles into the most important protective and decorating metal coatings (Cr, Ni, Cu, Au). This will result in a significant increase in coating strength, hardness, durability and wear resistance (up to 5-10 times), as well as in an improvement of corrosion resistance and a reduction in surface friction. The proposed electroplating with NDs technology will provide significantly reduced production costs due to reduction of metal consumption and time processing with respect to traditional plating technologies. • Implementation of this innovation will result in a significant economic effect while decreasing the environmental impacts.

  3. Problems and needs • Metal finishing for industry’s products are all around us: if we look at cars, portable electronics, hardware tools, jewelry, domestic appliances and aerospace components, we can immediately realize that the reflective, resistant, high performance features of many structural and decorative components have been attained through surface finishing processes. • Over the last 50 years, the continually increasing demand for enhanced mechanical and aesthetic product features has had the positive effect of spurring the growth of a leading European surface technology sector, which represents one of the most significant cross-sectorial industries in the European economy, characterized by a strong presence of SMEs and generating a turnover of around 30 billion € per-year, employing around 330,000 people in 22,000 companies (EUROSTAT). • Despite its long standing successes, the European Metal Finishing Industry (MFI) is going through the same downturn as many other industrial sectors, being challenged by several important forces which are currently squeezing its competitiveness, and evoking a radical change. • The main factors afflicting this market scenario can be summarised by the following three trends: • The rise of new global competitors. The EU finishing industry is facing a fierce competition from emerging economies, such as China, India, and Brazil, strongly based on price dumping relying on low labour costs and a large availability of raw materials used for metal coating, which has caused an overall decrease of the competitiveness of the EU Metal Finishing Industry. • The substantial lack of product/process innovation. MFI is dominated by SMEs, with most of the companies having typically less than 15 employees. The industry is traditionally open to innovation but with limited capital to invest in R&D activities, and structural difficulties in managing the relationship with research centers. This is testified by the fact that current techniques for metal electroplating and other metal finishing processes have been established for a very long time, with only relatively minor modifications and improvements. Innovation has been traditionally spurred by the introduction of always more stringent EU Regulations, but its full potential hasn’t yet been exploited. To defend the EU’s competitive position on a global basis it is necessary to propose radically innovative approaches, not replicable by other International competitors, and to do it now.

  4. Current state of the technology When we speak about “Metal Finishing”, or “Surface Finishing”, we are referring to any process that modifies the surface of a material or that applies a coating to its surface to confer new properties. In Europe, the surface technologies used predominantly are electroplating (one third) and painting (another third), in particular to protect raw materials from corrosion. Other important applications enhance the usability of materials by improvements to properties such as wear protection, self-cleaning or defined electrical conductivity. The remaining third of surface finishing technologies includes chemical and physical vapour deposition, plasma technologies, metal spraying and other specialised techniques. Metal finishing is a term for a highly diverse group of technologies and industrial processes; as can be seen in the following figure, there are different processes covering different stages of the metal finishing, which are mostly complementary to one each other.

  5. General Economic benefits The technology of nanodiamond chrome coating tailored for specific metal coatings (Cr, Ni, Cu, Au) will be very useful in the aviation, automotive, oil and gas, tools, furniture, medical, personal care products manufacturing sectors and other appliances. The quantitative targets of the Nanodiamond chrome coatings are: • Drastic reduction in the use of chemicals • Reduction in the CO2 emissions • Reduction in energy consumption • Reduction of industrial water use • Improved product performances • Reduction of waste • Reduced cycle times • Increased plating efficiency • Improved Life Cycle Assessment for each product

  6. An Overview "RAM" LLC is the developer and owner of the technology "nanodiamond chrome coating", has more than 10 patents, as well as the current galvanic production, on which this technology has been used since 2006. The technology is largely breakthrough, has no existing analogues in the world, bears a huge advantage over the technology used in the following parameters: • 3-7 times increases the life and durability of the parts, used in equipment subjected to intensive wear and tear, • reduces at least 2 times the amount of chromium used in the coating, • increases the productivity and quality of products, • Shortens the production time, saves electricity and labor. For 11 years, our nanodiamond chrome coatings have been successfully tested and applied in various industries: metallurgy and metalworking industry, nuclear power, oil production and refining, aviation and space industries.

  7. Facts about RAM LLC RAM LLC company was incorporated in 2004 as a design and experimental enterprise. 10. Comparative analysis of traditional chrome coatings and nanodiamond chrome coatings

  11. Strategy & Investment Proposal In Russia currently more than 1,200 galvanic plants operate, and the market for chrome coatings is more than €1,2 billion a year only in Russia. However, all these plants use the outdated chrome plating technology (used since 1930s). At the same time, the introduction of our technology will not require the modernization of the existing galvanic production equipment of enterprises with chrome plating lines, and can be produced with relatively little cost. The development and expansion of business requires additional funds in order to form a typical franchise package (nanodiamond galvanic production) and to actively distribute it on industrial sites in Russia and other countries. • We can propose clear integration of the new methods into the existing production lines with minimum costs for modifications. • According to our preliminary calculations considering as an example an average industrial plant with a production capacity of around 10,000 m2 of coated surfaces each year, and assuming savings of 30% on chemicals, 30% on energy and 20% of industrial water - the «RAM» process will allow a saving of around 5€ per square meter coated. This calculation does not yet include the increased product performances. • Seek to raise up to £2m via an equity offering and listing onto ___, Sweden. • The Company will seek to take advantage of the Enterprise Investment Scheme to enhance its attractiveness as an investment to its Sweden investors.
