  1. Water Baptism For the Remission of Sins

  2. What is baptism? • Baptism - from a derivative of 911; to immerse, submerge; to make whelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism:--Baptist, baptize, wash. (Strong’s)

  3. Who is to be baptized? • Ac 2:37 ¶ Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" (NKJV) • On the day of Pentecost the people were cut to the heart. • Ac 8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. (KJV) • Those like the eunuch that had a desire to have someone to guide them to the truth.

  4. Who is to be baptized? • Ac 9:6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. (KJV) • Some like Paul were trembling and astonished. • He was humble enough to asked the Lord what he needed to do.

When is a person to be baptized? • Ro 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) (KJV) • Isaac and Ishmael • When we are of the age of accountability knowing right from wrong. • Ac 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching good tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. (ASV) • Like the Samaritans and Simon the Sorcerer that heard the preaching of Philip and were baptized.

When is a person to be baptized? • Ac 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. (KJV) • Like Lydia whose heart was opened and she attended to the things spoken by Paul. • Ac 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. (KJV) • Just like the jailor that heard Paul and Silas singing at midnight, saw the earthquake and was taken and baptized straightway.

What is baptism for? • Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (KJV) • Peter told the people at Pentecost it was for the remission of sins. • Mr 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (KJV) • Salvation comes after belief and baptism.

What is baptism for? • 1Pe 3:21 ¶ The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: (KJV) • We will be saved if we have been baptized just like the ark saved Noah and his family. • Ga 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (KJV) • Baptism into Christ allows us to put on Christ.

  9. Where is a person to be baptized? • Ac 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (KJV) • Paul was baptized when Ananias came to him • Ac 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? (KJV) • The eunuch saw water and wanted to be baptized • Ac 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (KJV) • The jailor was told to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and straightway after his confession he was baptized

  10. Where is a person to be baptized? • Ac 16:13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither. (KJV) • Lydia was by a river side.

  11. Why is a person to be baptized? • Ac 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (KJV) Ac 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (KJV) • The jailor ask what he must do to be saved and was told believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

  12. Why is a person to be baptized? • Ro 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? (KJV) • When we are baptized we are baptized into the likeness death. • Ro 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (KJV) • If we are baptized into the likeness of his deathwe will in the likeness of his resurrection.

How is a person to be baptized? • Ro 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (KJV) • Baptism is a burial in water that leads us to walking in a new way of life • Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. • Baptism is a burial in water and we are risen through the faith of the operation of God

  14. How is a person to be baptized? • Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (KJV) • We are commanded to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and the HolyGhost.

  15. The Choice is up to You • What about you? • Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? • Do you fill the need to be baptized?
