  2. Embargo • a government order that limits trade in some way • An established ban • There's a standing embargo against the use of foul language in this house.

  3. Lucrative • producing money or wealth • The business has proved to be highly lucrative.

  4. Desist • to stop doing something • Despite orders from the police, the protesters would not desist.

  5. Citadel • a castle or fort that in past times was used to protect the people of a city if the city was attacked • We visited a medieval citadel in Italy.

  6. Dispatch • to send (someone or something) quickly to a particular place for a particular purpose • to kill (a person or animal) quickly • Rescue workers were immediately dispatched to the area.

  7. Fastidious • very careful about how you do something • He is fastidious about keeping the house clean.

  8. Assimilate • to adopt the ways of another culture : to fully become part of a different society, country, etc. • Schools were used to assimilate the children of immigrants.

  9. Exotic • very different, strange, or unusual • She owns a lot of exotic plants.

  10. Haven • a place where you are protected from danger, trouble, etc. • This national park provides a safe haven for wildlife.

  11. Tycoon • a very wealthy and powerful business person • An oil tycoon who's widely considered the most powerful man in the county
