  2. The Acronym • Kids Have Dropped Over Dead Converting Metrics • K = kilo • H = hecto • D = deca • O = Base Unit (liter, meter, or gram) • D = deci • C = centi • M = milli • Remember this above sentence it will be a life saver

Conversions Between Units • Steps for Converting • Write out the abbreviations in order • Start with pencil on given unit and make loops to final unit • The direction and the number of loops necessary to get from start to finish is the same direction and number of times the decimal place needs to be moved. • Move the decimal place and record the proper unit

  4. Temperature Conversions • To get from Celsius to Kelvin you must you simply add 273. • To get from Kelvin to Celsius you must subtract 273. • Please note water freezes at 0°C and water boils at 100 °C • At 0 Kelvin all molecular motion ceases and the material is said to be at absolute zero (this has never actually been achieved) • For the SI system Kelvin is the base unit.
