Farming was an essential part of Egyptian life. • The main crops were wheat, barley, and flax. • As early as 5000 B.C.E., Egyptians grew crops along the Nile River • Farmers learned how to use the yearly Nile floods to irrigate their land • Farmers kept their fields watered during the year by digging canals
