Workshop:Sustain and Renew Your Curriculum • Questions to ask yourself and your discipline: • Sustaining: What does my discipline do well? • These are the strengths that you want to preserve and not throw out with the revisions. • Renewing: What does my discipline not do well? • Areas to update; New opportunities • Changes in the field • Courses that aren’t working, that do not have good enrollment, etc. • What do our assessment data tell us about our weaknesses and strengths? • How does our curriculum compare with similar programs at similar universities and colleges? • Morris 14 • Research on-line • Check professional organizations for curriculum suggestions

Workshop • Process: Things to consider: • How do I know that our curriculum needs revision? • Who is invested in the current curriculum and why? • Who is not included in the structure of our curriculum and why? • All faculty should teach all levels of the curriculum to have a good sense of the student population, the structure of the curriculum, and to create a sense of fairness among faculty members. • Who are my allies in curricular revision? • Who will resist the revisions and why? • How can I best approach curriculum revision to keep all faculty members involved, invested, and interested?
