  1. Your Assignment (TEST) Area, Surface Area and Volume

  2. Materials Needed: • One sheet of Bristol Board – divided into four parts. • Pencil & pencil crayons • Rulers (protractor set)

  3. Step One - Perimeter • Label a section of your Bristol Board “Perimeter” • Construct the following shapes in that section of your Bristol Board. • Neatly record the formulas for finding the perimeter or circumference of each shape below that shape. • Find the perimeter of those shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below them. Be sure to label your shapes. Circle Square 10cm Rectangle 2cm P = 2(l + w) P = 2(10cm + 2cm) P = 2(12cm) P = 24cm

  4. 10cm A = l x w A = 10cm x 2cm A = 20cm2 Rectangle 2cm Step Two - Area • Label a section of your Bristol Board “Area” • Construct the following shapes on that section of your Bristol Board. • Neatly record the formulas for finding the area of each shape below that shape. • Find the area of the shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below each shape. Parallelogram Right Triangle Circle Trapezoid Triangle Square

  5. Step Three – Surface Area • Label a section of your Bristol Board “Surface Area” • Construct the following shapes on that section of your Bristol Board. • Neatly record the formulas for finding the surface area of each shape below that shape. • Find the surface area of each of the shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below them. Cube Rectangler Prism Trianglar Prism SA = 2(lw + lh + wh) Cylinder

  6. Step Four – Volume • Label a section of your Bristol Board “Volume” • Construct the following shapes on that section of your Bristol Board. • Neatly record the formulas for finding the volume of each shape below that shape. • Find the volume of these shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below them. Rectangler Prism Cube Trianglar Prism V = B x h Cylinder

  7. Marks, Hints and Cautions: • Step One – Perimeter – 9 (three marks per shape) • Step Two – Area – 14 (two marks per shape) • Step Three – Surface Area – 12 (three marks per shape) • Step Four – Volume - 12 (three marks per shape) • Neatness - All work must be neatly completed – 8 (two marks per section) • Use your compass set to draw your shapes. • Each member in your group needs to complete a portion of the work. • TOTAL VALUE /55 • Your finish product should look something like………

  8. Square Parallelogram Trapezoid 5cm Trianglar Prism Rectangle 5cm Cylinder A = l x w 5cm x 5cm 25cm2 A = b x h Circle Triangle Right Triangle Cube Cylinder Rectangler Prism Cube Area V = π r2 x h Volume Surface Area V = B x h Trianglar Prism Perimeter / Circumference Rectangler Prism Circle Square Rectangle V = (l x w) x h V = B x h Remember: B = l x w
