  2. Funny quote • “Roommates are like family. Family that you aren't related to, and you have to live with because you can't afford anything else. Also, some of them are crazy.”

  3. Let’s review the roommate reading • Which tips stood out to you most? Why? • Mrs. Hanseling’s roommate stories… • I lived in the dorms at UNL for 1 year with an acquaintance from high school (went well) • I have lived at The View Apartments with 3 other roommates for 1 year (weird experience) • I have lived at Deer Park Apartments for 2 years with my friend Rachel (very dramatic) • I have lived at Northbrook Apartments with Rachel for 1 year (much better)

  4. Rules for roommates reading • Let’s look at sample roommate agreements • Take out a sheet of paper and write down 15 specific rules you would want a future roommate to follow. • For example: • 1. Don’t go in my room when I’m gone unless given permission. • 2. Take your laundry out of the washer/dryer when it’s done.

  5. When making your list consider these areas… Rules about… Sharing space Furniture Appliances Food Parties/entertaining People staying the night Sharing clothes Household chores Cleanliness/cleaning Pets Noise level Smoking • Method for paying rent and utilities • What if someone moves out early

  6. Sharing • Pick 3 rules you’re willing to share out loud to the class.
