  3. Specific Aim Development of an additional qualification in intercultural competence to enrich continuous training possibilities and strengthen consultancy services in the field of active labour market measures, in particular in professional orientation for unemployed immigrants.

  4. Objectives • Interculturally competent staff • Different approaches in the consultation process • View of combating discrimination in training provisions and consultancy • Phase-out of stereotyped thinking • Improving integration of immigrants into the labour market

  5. Target Group • Trainers and advisers in the field of active labour market measures, especially in professional orientation Target Sectors • Education and training institutes • Social services, information services, etc.

INT.COMP - Products • Development of a training programme • Development of a training manual and training material • Handbook with a collection of life worlds of immigrants to show various faces of migration and integration • Implementation of the pilot course • Build up of a data base • Establishment of a web portal • Evaluation reports

  10. Training Programme • Structured on a modular basis • Mixture of soft, hard skill training and direct action • Blended learning units, face-to-face units and project work • Held without exception by experts

  11. Practice Work – The Principle Item – A new Approach • Research work by interviewing immigrants • Interviews on the basis of life world research • Accompanied by a self-perception phase • Contribution to the handbook on life worlds of immigrants

  12. Handbook • Consists of interviews on the basis of life world research • Has an accumulative character during project and project‘s end • Gives a collection on different faces of migration and integration

  13. Training Material Consists of: • Material for face-to-face units • Material for blended learning units • Immigrant interview guideline

  14. Training Manual Consists of: • Training material • Description training programme • Methods • Use of blended learning units and data base

  15. Database Consists of: - Blended learning units (hard-skill training) - Handbook on life worlds of immigrants Available at the INT.COMP web portal.

  16. INT.COMP - Pilot Course Duration: app. 3 months Start: October 2007 Countries: Austria, Finland, Italy and UK Participants: 10 – 15 persons Documentation/ Expertise: at the end of the course

  17. Monitoring and Evaluation • By FIM New Learning – University Erlangen • Experienced in evaluation of national and international education projects • FIM will provide tools for internal as well as external monitoring and evaluation
