  3. Getting Started • Set Goals • Envision improvements • Gather Input • survey fellow faculty members • question past recipients • contact MDE with specific concerns • Create a timetable for research and writing the proposal

  4. Teamwork is Required • Think about a person’s areas of expertise • Consider personalities • Identify roles on the team • Set Norms for meetings and work sessions

  5. Background Information • Examine other technology grants proposed by your district • Contact administration • Contact systems technical support team • Contact maintenance

  6. Locating Support and Sources • Identify partners in the process • PTA or other district organizations • Local university • Local business and industry • Search the Internet • MDE and US Dept of Ed websites • Past recipients’ school websites • Professional journals

  7. Most Proposals Include • Overview (Executive Summary) • Statement of Need • Proposal Narrative • Timeline and Benchmarks • Project Evaluation • Budget (Narrative and Summary)

  8. Writing the Proposal • Read, read, read all hints and guidelines • Look at examples • Follow guidelines • Formatting • Content • Length • Pay attention to detail
