  2. Sustainability Office: a brief overview • Established in 2006 • Currently 4 full time staff • Resource for ALL University divisions • Coordinate the University Sustainability Committee and the JHU Climate Implementation Plan

  3. Sustainability Office Goals for FY2011 • Reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions by 51% by 2025 Annual Target: 7,300 MTCDE (Roughly 3% per year)

  9. How Mt. Washington Can Help Support JHU’s Sustainability Goals: • Greenhouse Gas emissions • Use CLFs in task lighting • Use natural light when possible • Use energy saving power strips or plug multiple peripherals into a regular power strip and turn off at the end of the day. • Use shades to block summer sun • Do not use portable heaters • Report problems • Recycling • Recycle everything you can – including toner cartridges, electronics, batteries • Limit the use of disposables in break room • Recycling challenge! • Purchasing • Purchase at a minimum 30% post-consumer recycled content paper • Purchase office supplies with green attributes like made from recycled content, nontoxic, reduced packaging, etc. • Reduce frequency of deliveries like Office Depot • Paper Reduction • Set all copiers to default double-sided • Distribute meeting materials electronically and don’t print agendas, slides, etc. • Default print jobs to double-sided • Reduce print jobs by sharing documents electronically • Paper challenge! • Deploy 1E Nightwatchman software • Underway already • Enable energy management settings on computers • Remove screensavers • Advocate • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and share with Sustainability Office • Talk to your colleagues • Become a Green Campus Rep
