  2. What We Plan to Do … • Different workloads • Different applications • Different methods on finding the relationship between metrics and performance.

  3. Different Workloads • We’ve used: • Workload with Peak • Peak: sudden and drastic increasing. • Short-term workload with periodic behavior • Four repeated patterns in 200 minutes. • We’re using: • Long-term workload • More realistic.

  6. Different Methods • We’ve used Principle Component Analysis(PCA) to help us reduce the dimensionality. • We are using mutual information to select metrics that related to performance.

  9. Gap • Even if we know the relations between metrics and performance, we still can’t decide the precise number of VM needed. • The relations between metrics and the number of VM are not clear.
