  1. Karwa Chauth Thali Essentials A Karwa Chauth thali is used while worshipping the Moon by the women who observe this fast. Here are essentials to remember when you buy Karwa Chauth thali items: Chaani- The Moon is seen through the Chaani or a large sieve by the women.

  2. Karwa- It is a steel glass or kalash filled with water. The husband offers water to the wife from the Karwa after the wife breaks the fast by looking at the Moon and worshipping it. Mathri- This is a Rajasthani snack item that is consumed by some women to break their fast. However, some families might not have the rule to eat mathri to break the fast. Sindoor- Sindoor or vermilion is a sign of marriage in Indian women, and they are considered an auspicious symbol. 2 Ghee Diyas- One ghee Diya is used during the evening puja and the other while worshipping the Moon during which the Diya is placed in the Channi. Rice grains- Rice is the symbol of prosperity. It is used in many Hindu rituals. Fruit- The fruits collectively offered during the evening puja is kept in the thali. Baya- Baya is given to the mother-in-law by the daughter-in-law after the completion of the puja. Baya consists of fruits, dry fruits, sweets, and, sometimes, a token of money. Sweets- Sweets are kept as a symbol to increase the sweetness in the couple's married life and is eaten by the wife to break her fast. Chunni- A chunni or dupatta is a red piece of cloth by which the woman's head is covered to protect her from the evil eye.
